Glow Worms
Leave Your Body in Their Way

A dark field with no edges, a scattering of glowing crumbs, and nearly thirty worms eating their way across it. You steer with the pointer and hold the button to sprint, which burns your own length and drops it behind you as food. A head that touches another worm's body dies; a body is never in danger, and your own is harmless to you. So you never win a chase - you win by putting your body across somebody else's path and leaving it there. Whatever dies spills everything it ate, which is why the richest patch of the field is also the worst place to be.
Why a Long Worm Runs Out of Room
A worm cannot stop, and its head dies on any body but its own. Every other worm's body is a wall that moves, and the longer the worms grow, the wider they turn and the more of the field around them is wall. That is the bind a crowd is in when it cannot move, or a traffic jam that will not clear, or the molecules in a cooling glass: each part is stuck because its neighbors are stuck, with nothing dramatic happening at any single moment. Play a long worm in a crowd and you can feel that arrive - early on the field is all gaps, and then, with no warning, every turn you wanted is already taken.
How to play
- Point where you want to go, or turn with the arrow keys. Hold the button, Space or Shift to sprint - it costs length, so it trades size for speed.
- Nothing can kill you from behind. All of the danger is in front of your head.
- To take a bigger worm, get ahead of it and turn across its nose: it cannot stop and it cannot reverse.
- When something dies near you the field fills with what it ate - and every worm that saw it is already on the way.
